Christmas – for the First Time in Their Lives

The town of Homa Bay has never seen this before: 150 children of all ages and school grades from Rangwe were driven in by two large busses on december 23rd 2014.  The children – all of them double aids orphans and from so called child or youth headed households –  were invited to a christmas party in a nice hotel.

Many of them had never before been out of their village let alone seen Lake Victoria – so the first treat was to drive them to the lake. After that, they were officially received with various speeches. There was room for play and the inflatable jumper – a first for most of them – was a huge success. Then came snack-time with milk and donuts – and they were asked about their wishes. All of them wrote letters or made drawings for Aids & Child. Their stories and wished will be guiding us in our future work in Rangwe.

Finally and before they were brought home safely, each child received a package containing cooking oil, greengrams, rice, baking flour and tea. It came together with a personal christmas card and greetings from Switzerland – showing love and affection.
