A perspective for Masebo

Masebo is an 18 year old teenager from the Zamipilo informal settlement who was in grade 9 at the local township school. His mother had died many years ago, and he was left in the care of an aunt who was also HIV+ and died a few months ago. His older sister from a different father is also living with the disease. M: had attended the therpeutic boys group where it was noticed that he was not able to read or write at all. At school he was simply promoted on the grounds of age, with no prospect of ever being able to write his matrix exam. Frustrated and with a very low self-esteem he had all but given up on a future for himself. Thanks to A&Cs support he was placed in a six month training course in life and vocational skills which he will have completed by the end of 2015.
